Expressing regret that he cannot change the decision that he conveyed the previous summer to Mosenthal and Dumba, saying that he is too old and feeble to comply with their wish, that 30, 40 years before, when Beethoven's piano works were rarely performed publicly, "klammerte ich meine Seele und Finger daran," that now the works are widely performed, mentioning Bülow's masterly interpretation of the concertos and sonatas, his own [second] Beethoven Cantata, etc.; with an autograph letter signed, dated [Paris] Jan. 20 1947, from Blandine Ollivier de Prèvaux to [Alfred Cortot], giving him the Liszt letter.
